It is only a symptom and not a disease in itself. Headaches may be caused by most any illness, disease, indisposition, weakness or bodily change; then again they may be absent in the most serious illnesses. Very few cases of headaches, whether severe or mild, will be encountered which will not yield to an antisepticizing treatment or two. This is a rather sweeping statement, nevertheless, few exceptions will be met with. A reinfection usually by a fresh virus or germ of the person’s common foundation of disease is the commonest cause of headaches ; usually this is intensified by the eating of harmful food, which as far as the person believes, was perfectly good food. The upset stomach due to eating indigestible or bad food is a common cause of headaches ; nevertheless,the headache is caused chiefly by the bad food acting on the person’s common foundation of disease. Most any illness, disease, temporary weakness or upset condition will give rise to headaches ; these conditions always produce their effects through the person’s common foundation of disease in giving rise to the headache. Most headaches are due either directly or in-directly to the evil effects of the patient’s common foundation of disease. The type of headache due to an upset stomach resulting from bad food is localized mostly to the top of the head or the sides of the top of the head. Headaches due to a common foundation of disease or constitutional illnesses or causes are more generalized over the head ; this is equally true of periodic headaches in women. A good cathartic should invariably be taken with the first antisepticizing treatment. In children an enema is always advisable in cases of headaches whether or not we suspect an upset stomach ; in adults enemas are advisable in severe or stubborn cases of headaches whether or not associated with an upset stomach.
It is pleasing to observe how nicely, quickly and easily headaches will be relieved sometimes at once and almost invariably shortly after the antisepticizing treatment has been administered. All the different types of headaches mentioned in the above paragraph are readily relieved by an antisepticizing treatment. Head pains due to the same causes disappear simultaneously with the headache. The same statements are true of pains in the head, neuralgic pains in the head and neuralgias. Most of these pains, aches, and neuralgias are due to these same causes a decided common foundation of disease. This is equally true of most cases of migraine, hemi-crania, and tic douloureux. All these neuralgic complaints and diseases when due to a common foundation of disease, are relieved nicely and readily by the usual means and methods of common foundationing. A small percentage of these complaints are due to tumors and then the relief of these pains becomes much more difficult. Common foundationing will quickly decide which of these two causes are operating. Exceptions to this rule should be care-fully investigated and more tangible and prominent causes for the persistent forms of headaches or head pains will be found. These causes may vary anywhere from decided abscess disease of the sinuses to tumors in the head, the onset of serious illnesses, or poisonous food. The ordinary, everyday, simple headache should easily and quickly be relieved by the antisepticizing treatment and a cathartic; in fact, the antisepticizing treatments are a specific for such cases.
